Gardeners Ickenham Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Gardeners Ickenham has taken, and continues to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our business operations and supply chains. Gardeners Ickenham is committed to conducting all activities ethically, responsibly, and in compliance with applicable laws relating to labour, human rights, and modern slavery.
Modern slavery includes slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, and human trafficking. Gardeners Ickenham recognises that these abuses can occur in any sector and geography, and we remain vigilant in identifying and addressing risks wherever they may arise.
Our Zero-Tolerance Policy
Gardeners Ickenham maintains a clear and firm zero-tolerance stance towards modern slavery and human trafficking. We will not knowingly engage with any individual, contractor, or organisation involved in such practices. Any confirmed instance of modern slavery connected to our business or supply chain will result in immediate and decisive action, which may include termination of contracts and reporting to relevant authorities.
Our zero-tolerance approach is communicated across our business and to our suppliers, subcontractors, and other partners. All those working with or for Gardeners Ickenham are expected to uphold the same high standards and to act in a manner consistent with our values and legal obligations.
Supply Chain Standards and Supplier Audits
Gardeners Ickenham understands that the risk of modern slavery often arises in extended supply chains. We therefore require our suppliers and service providers to comply with all applicable labour and human rights laws and to adopt practices that are consistent with our own ethical standards.
We assess new suppliers based on their ability to demonstrate fair working conditions, lawful employment practices, and transparent sourcing. Where appropriate, we conduct supplier audits or request evidence of compliance, such as policies, codes of conduct, or third-party certifications. We may also ask suppliers to complete self-assessment questionnaires to help identify potential risks.
Ongoing monitoring is carried out proportionate to the level of risk associated with the supplier, including consideration of sector, geography, and the nature of the goods or services provided. If a supplier fails to meet our expectations or refuses to cooperate with reasonable due diligence, Gardeners Ickenham reserves the right to review, suspend, or terminate the relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Gardeners Ickenham encourages a culture of openness, transparency, and accountability. We want all workers, suppliers, and stakeholders to feel confident in raising concerns about possible modern slavery or related human rights abuses, without fear of retaliation.
Concerns can be reported through our established internal reporting routes, including escalation to line management or senior leadership. Individuals may raise concerns about their own treatment, the treatment of others, or any practices that appear inconsistent with our zero-tolerance stance on modern slavery.
All reports will be handled sensitively and, where possible, confidentially. Gardeners Ickenham will investigate concerns promptly, take appropriate remedial action where necessary, and cooperate with any lawful investigations by authorities. Retaliation against any person who raises a concern in good faith is strictly prohibited.
Training, Awareness, and Continuous Improvement
Gardeners Ickenham promotes awareness of modern slavery risks among relevant staff, particularly those involved in procurement, contracting, and supplier management. Training and guidance are provided so that colleagues understand how to recognise the signs of exploitation and how to respond to any concerns.
We seek to learn from experience, recognised best practice, and evolving legislation. Wherever necessary, we will enhance our procedures, update our internal guidance, and strengthen our supplier requirements to further reduce the risk of modern slavery within our operations and supply chains.
Annual Review and Approval
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least once every twelve months to ensure that it remains accurate, effective, and aligned with the legal and ethical standards expected of Gardeners Ickenham. As part of the annual review, we evaluate the effectiveness of our policies, supplier audits, and reporting channels, and we identify opportunities for improvement.
The updated statement is approved by the leadership of Gardeners Ickenham and made available to stakeholders. By issuing this statement, Gardeners Ickenham reaffirms its commitment to a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and to the continuous improvement of measures designed to prevent and address exploitation in all its forms.
